Welcome to the Department of Sharia & Law

The Department of Sharia & Law at UMMA University is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and research in Islamic law (Sharia) and secular legal systems. Our department aims to produce knowledgeable, ethical, and skilled legal professionals who can navigate and contribute to both Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary legal frameworks.

To conduct impactful research that addresses contemporary legal challenges.

To prepare graduates who are competent in both Islamic and civil law and committed to justice and ethical practice.

To engage with legal institutions, communities, and stakeholders to promote the rule of law and human rights.


Academic Programs

The Department offers a range of programs designed to equip students with a deep understanding of Sharia and secular legal systems:

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) with specialization in Sharia & Law

Diploma in Islamic Law and Legal Studies

Certificate in Sharia and Legal Practice

Postgraduate programs (planned for future launch)

Our curriculum covers Islamic jurisprudence, constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, human rights, legal ethics, and dispute resolution.

Research and Community Engagement

Our faculty and students engage in research on Islamic legal theory, comparative law, human rights, and contemporary legal issues. We also provide legal aid clinics and community outreach programs to promote access to justice.


Facilities and Resources

The department is equipped with modern lecture halls, a law library with extensive resources on Islamic and secular law, and moot court facilities for practical training.
